What to expect
Come along with whatever you're currently making. Whether that's a half-finished garment, a repair that's been sitting in your wardrobe, a new pattern you're not quite sure how to approach, or a project you've been waiting for the right time to start.
We'll get you set up on one of the studio's sewing machines or overlockers, and you're welcome to work independently or ask for help whenever you need it. Ana will be around throughout the evening to troubleshoot tricky bits, talk through your project and help you develop.
It’s a casual evening to share ideas, ask questions and spend some time being creative.
Tea, coffee and treats are included.
What will you make
That's entirely up to you.
Bring a garment to repair, a pattern you've been wanting to try, something you've started but can't quite finish, or a project you've been putting off.
There isn't a set outcome for the evening. You choose what you want to work on, and Ana is there to help you get there.
Taught by…
Ana Clark
Ana is the founder of Craft/Folks and a maker with a particular interest in slow stitch, refined finishes and creating spaces where people can learn through making.
She loves the moment when something that initially feels difficult starts to make sense, and believes that having the right space, time, tools, and a little encouragement can make all the difference.
Who’s it for
Open Studio, as the name suggests, is open to everyone. It's particularly useful if you're:
learning to sew and want some support while you practise
working on a garment or pattern at home and have got stuck
wanting to try an overlocker or unfamiliar sewing machine
looking for a dedicated space to cut, sew and work on a project
simply looking for a regular evening to make alongside other people
Come alone or bring a friend. Everyone is welcome.
